About me
Cassettes were also the main mode of music to me and I would memorize them constantly
I remember growing up listening to four radio stations almost exclusively.
– Country
– Jazz
– Classical
– chrIStiAN
(I don’t listen to christian radio stations anymore)
I would listen to them so often that I would memorize their song playlists. In a musical family, four out of six of the family played piano and all of us sang. Whether or not we were on key or in tune… who cares at this point!
I remember consuming music as much as possible, checking out cassette tapes then later as many CD’s as possible from the local library. I would be listening to them on my portable players and when the music ran out, I’d switch to listening to the AM/FM radio stations available to me!
Cycling through the radio stations as a teen I stumbled upon an AM band Radio (880 KIXI) which played music from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, this music was so new and fresh to me in the 1990s that I tried to listen to it as much and as frequently as possible.
When I was able to switch from CD’s to an MP3 player… my life changed drastically, i was no longer limited to the 2-3 hours of a double-sided disk, but I had the capacity to choose from 100 songs and later 300 songs! So I would go to the library, check out all of the EDM CDs, rip them to my tiny computer and listen for hours as the beats, tones, layers rhythms and soundscapes which seemed to speak directly to the part of me that keeps seeking to this day for fresh sounds!
I’d like to share my enthusiasm for the music I hear from a vast array of genres, I won’t list them here because I keep on exploring, and the list keeps on growing! But stick around and see what you can learn from, experience and maybe even enjoy yourself!
What I Do (TLDR)
I listen to music and share what I enjoy about it on this blog
